Affiliate Membership

Affiliate Membership is open to anyone interested in undertaking independent examinations of charity accounts, who supports the aims of ACIE, and is willing to adhere to the ACIE Code of Ethics for any independent examinations undertaken.

You can join ACIE with a few easy steps by clicking here.

ACIE has two levels of Affiliate Membership: "Affiliate Member" and "Affiliate Voluntary Independent Examiner ("VIE")".  If you meet the VIE conditions, you may join (or renew your subscribing membership) as an Affiliate VIE.  Otherwise, you should join (or renew your subscribing membership) as an Affiliate Member.

For these purposes, a VIE is any individual: (a) who undertakes Charity Independent Examinations on a voluntary basis (ie without charging any fees or expenses); or (b) whose total income (fees and expenses) from Charity independent Examination work for the year is below £500.00.

Subscription rates for the year ending 31March 2027:

Affiliate Member: £72.00 (2025/2026: £72.00)

Affiliate VIE: £41.00 (2025/2026: £41.00)

All Affiliate Members and Affiliate VIEs receive:

  2. Access to networking to meet with and share practice points with fellow examiners;
  3. Access to our enquiry line: you don’t have to struggle alone when you have a query or problem - email us and we can help;
  4. Help via our email bulletins to keep up to date with all things IE and all the news from the Charity Regulators;
  5. Access to high quality training and professional development delivered by experienced practitioners and confirmation of your learning in our CPD certificates for your personal and professional records; and
  6. Access to ACIE’s low-cost Professional Indemnity Insurance policies underwritten by Intact Insurance UK Ltd LVSC (for the year ending 31 March 2027: £113.00 for Affiliate Members and Affiliate VIEs [2025/2026: £109.00], £61.00 for Full Members [2025/2026: £59.00])).

Only Full Members, who have had the quality of their IE work scrutinised by the ACIE Membership Committee, are awarded designatory letters and are listed in the directory. However, all Affiliate Members can apply to become Full Members, and are encouraged to do so.
